SNR DEMONSTRATES ITS AGILE EDGE
SNR Systems has successfully demonstrated its Agile Edge, a flexible service delivery node for the enterprise and tactical environments. Unlike traditional edge architectures that are capital intensive, inflexible, and logistically difficult to support and maintain, SNR’s Agile Edge leverages Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN) to provide mission flexibility, speed to deployment and rock-solid reliability, while significantly lowering the total cost of ownership.
The Agile Edge was developed in our Ashburn Innovation and Integration (I2) Lab. Utilizing best of breed software and hardware components, NFV, and SDN functionality, the apex of agility in network deployments has arrived. SNR’s Agile Edge successfully integrates industry leading disaggregated software with commodity hardware to build a platform that delivers the secure mission capabilities, flexibility, and lower total cost of ownership our DOD customers demand.
In addition to demonstrating highly scalable switching and routing functions on its Agile Edge, SNR demonstrated NFV delivering the following services:
- Wireless Access
- WAN Optimization
- System Log Aggregation
- Virtual Mobile Infrastructure
- Voice Functionality
The integration methodology employed by SNR allows for any number of additional service delivery options.
The benefits of the Agile Edge are summarized as follows:
- Leverages COTS
- Lower total cost of ownership
- Highly scalable
- Highly flexible service delivery
- Faster recovery with one-to-many redundancy options.
- Significantly lower SWAP (size, weight, and power) than traditional deployments
- Simplified logistics — x86 based hardware
- Automated Remote Configuration (no presence required)
