Tom Ries, a founder and principal of SNR Systems, has more than 17 years of experience in account management, sales, systems engineering, hardware engineering, and technical support with technology vendors and large system integrators in the Federal marketplace.
Prior to joining SNR, Mr. Ries was an account manager for Ciena Government Solutions, Inc. In that capacity, he was responsible for all sales activities with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). During his tenure, Mr. Ries spearheaded Ciena’s relationship with DoD, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), and the U.S. Army.
Previously, Mr. Ries was an account manager for Marconi Federal, Inc. with responsibility for DISA, the Pentagon, and the National Guard Bureau. Mr. Ries began his tenure at Marconi (then FORE Systems Federal, Inc.) in October of 1998 as a systems engineer, where he supported DISA, the Office of the Secretary of Defense (AT&L), the Pentagon Renovation project, and the National Guard Bureau.
Prior to FORE Systems, Mr. Ries was a product manager for Alcatel Data Networks, Inc. Mr. Ries managed Alcatel’s HSS product, an ATM and Frame Relay switch. Before that, Mr. Ries held the title of senior hardware design engineer and helped to develop HSS by designing ASICs and systems boards used in the product.
Before joining Alcatel Data Networks, Mr. Ries spent three years with the MITRE Corporation’s Networking Center where he supported several DoD and intelligence community telecommunications initiatives.
Mr. Ries received a BS in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University in 1993 and an MS in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University in 1998. He was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Society while at George Mason University, and has been an active member of AFCEA since 1992.
