Job Description: The Microsoft Systems Administrator shall be a hands-on systems administrator, also responsible for coordinating the tasks and schedules for maintenance, patching, and upgrading servers and systems under their realm of responsibility. Server administration support includes managing and monitoring the performance of the computer servers in the IT Systems Support Center (ITSSC). The server administrator will assist the system support administrator in the resolution of problems, related to computer security, hardware, collaboration tools, software, CENTRIXS-SWA desktop, secure/non-secure VOIP, connectivity to NIPRNet and SIPRNet, as well as informing end-users of status/resolution and logging events. The Microsoft SA provides server and OS application support using software support standard best practices, DISANet instructions, STIG guidelines and tracking of system patch levels. The Microsoft SA shall maintain the DISA support systems and local procedures in accordance with the DoD, regulatory guidance and doctrine, and when applicable RMF standards. The Microsoft SA will include all events of server outages in a report to the government and shall provide to the government COR a report of the service level and appropriate calculations. The Microsoft SA manages all DISA servers (to include any standalone systems); perform log analysis, error detection, fault correction, backups and restores; perform startup and shutdown of the systems as required and with prior government coordination; build, configure, patch and upgrade servers, OS, and server applications as required. Document all actions within the Server Support Activity Report. The Microsoft SA will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the ITSSC. The Microsoft SA will assist the DISANet HBSS and DSO Cybersecurity teams to resolve all IA related security issues. This may include installing/uninstalling HBSS point products. The Microsoft Systems Administrator will coordinate with on-site contractor management, Federal customers, and governing authorities to ensure systems are maintained in accordance to DoD guidelines. Experience in applying and validating STIG application, responding to ISVMs, and performing routine system maintenance such as backups, patches, and system scans is required.
Collaborating with other technical team members is vital to the success of this role. The ability to effectively communicate, understand requirements, develop and maintain SOPs, and helping determine priorities to maintain program up-time is required. Some after-hours work may be required for production system maintenance, with periodic on-call duties for system support.
Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
- Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years relevant work experience, or 9 years relevant work experience.
- Maintain certifications IAW IAT Level II to include DoD Approved Baseline Certifications
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) on the latest version for Windows support
- Must possess strong analytical, problem solving, and collaboration skills
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- US citizenship
